West Allotment played out a draw with Benfield on Saturday to bring their league campaign to an end. The final finishing position was ninth. We had members of the famed band 1975 join us for one of the band members stage do. John Waugh donned an Allotment strip to lead the players out and during the line up one of Allotments subs crept up behind to pull his shorts down much to the amusement of all watching. John stayed on the pitch and the ref doing his prematch count realised we had 12 on the pitch and playing his part marched over and showed a red card , not the last time he would need that on this day.
The match itself was a bit of a let down after Allotments recent run of results with both sides showing some good build up play but not being able to apply the finish .
Allotment got themselves ahead on forty-one minutes with a nice one two on the edge of the box between Giraud and Kanda with a nice side foot finish.
Benfield leveled on the 60 minute mark with Lenox heading in from a left wing cross. A number of yellow cards started to be given and then Larmouth and Bennett were both given straight reds after reacting to each other.
So the season ends with the departure of Jay Bates and his team and the end of a good six season spell rising from the second division to being a very competitive side in the first Divsion and for the first time in a while being above Whitley Bay, North Shields in the league.
At the end of the game the committee, coaching staff and players posed for a pictrure.
