The two top teams in Division 1 met tonight at Kings Playing Fields on a very windy night. A slow and nervy start with Allotment trying to get to grips with a new formation. Once however Ellis moved inside Allotment started to play and be more in the game. The first half was even with neither keeper being really tested. Jack always offered a threat down the wing and did deliver some good crosses but with no end product. So at half time the scores were level and after a half time chat about the willingness to fight and want the ball Allotment took to the field.
The first 15 minutes showed that the pep talk had done the trick as Allotment looked to dominate in midfield. Thomas, William and Ellis never missed a tackle and this created a platform for Allotment to attack. The opening goal came from a corner which Ellis took and delivered a great ball into the box. The ball was met by Thomas who powered his header home. The second came on the counter attack after winning the ball back and playing up field to Jake who ran into the box and fired the ball home.
Whitley came back into the game a little and started to have more of the ball but again Allotment won the ball in midfield and a defensive mix up in the Whitley defence was to benefit Allotment as Nathan scored the third.
Whitley kept going and did manage to force a goal line clearance from Ellis and a tremendous save from Oscar but this was Allotment's night as they secured their position as league leaders.
Man of Match was Joseph.
