Despite the best efforts of the West Allotment side which was full of confidence after picking up a first league win of the season a few days prior, North Shields were able to come out of the game victorious after a hard-fought encounter.

Callum Larmouth scored his 16th and 17th goals of the season in all competitions but that wasn't enough on the night for Allotment to progress as Jack Leonard (2), Lewis Branen and Callum Smith were all on the scoresheet for the visitors.

A crowd of 180 gathered a East Palmersville Sports Pavilion and they didn't have to wait long for the opening goal. On 8 minutes, a perfectly-weighted through ball from Adam Forster carved open the Allotment defence and Jack Leonard kept his composure and neatly slotted the ball past Finn Hodgson to put Shields ahead.

From kick off, Allotment looked to equalise and that almost happened in the 9th minute. A flicked pass from Larmouth played in Matty Hayton however, the latter's shot went straight at Purvis in the Shields' goal.

Allotment continued to fight throughout the first half looking for that equaliser. Efforts from Larmouth in the 17th minute and Thompson in 21st minute both went off target.

A golden chance to level the game then fell the way of Rui Martins after 35 minutes. The ball was sat up perfectly in the box to be hit however, a tame effort on goal was simple for the goalkeeper to stop.

On 36 minutes, West Allotment got their equaliser courtesy of Callum Larmouth. A well-taken strike from the edge of the area fired past Purvis and into the bottom corner - A deserved goal for the hosts.

Unfortunately for Allotment, we were only level in the game for a matter of minutes. Shields won a corner after Finn Hodgson saved a well-struck shot and tipped it over the bar for the corner.

The visitors took full advantage of the set-piece. The ball was swung towards the front post where Lewis Branen was able to get away from his man and fire a bullet header across goal into the back of the net.

Just before half time, Shields added a third. A great save from Purvis to deny Paterson from close range then led to a counter attacking situation where Shields scored moments later with Jack Leonard getting his second of the game.

The second half kicked off and a stunning goal from Callum Larmouth soon followed. Larmouth picked up the ball in the 48th minute in a bit of space and he bent the ball from about 25 yards out straight into the top corner. Definitely a goal of the month contender.

An equaliser almost came on the 54th minute as Paterson sent a cross into the box. Matty Hayton, on the stretch, just about got his head onto it but it glanced just wide of the post.

The visitors seemed to calm the game down and they almost came close to a fourth goal on 73 minutes. A goalmouth scramble in the Allotment box was cleared after a scuffed shot from Norvell.

With 10 minutes to go, North Shields killed off the game by adding their fourth goal from Callum Smith. Smith was able to prod the ball home from close range to give North Shields a 2-goal buffer once again.

In the final minutes of the game, both sides had half chances and were unable to find the target with the score finishing as it was.

Allotment: Hodgson, Baltazar, Parkinson (Leech), Trodd, Scott (c), Errington, Paterson, Thompson, Larmouth, Hayton, Martins (Higgins)
