Match Preview: West Allotment Celtic vs West Auckland Town (17/08/21)

West Allotment Celtic will be looking to secure their first 3 points of the season on Tuesday evening as we welcome West Auckland Town FC to Palmersville.

The visitors

West Auckland picked up their first win of the 2021/22 Northern League Division One season as they ran out comfortable 5-1 winners against Crook Town in the latest round of fixtures. A spectacular crowd of 578 was there to witness a dominant display as West Auckland climbed up to 15th in the table after they started the season with three straight defeats.

Despite only coming away with three points from their opening four games, Auckland have been prolific in front of goal scoring 11 goals. Perhaps their main threat could come in the form of Adam Mitchell who scored twice on Friday night and also netted in the season opener.

Head-to-head

In league encounters, West Allotment and West Auckland have faced each other a total of eighteen times. The first meeting was in September 2005 where Allotment ran out 2-3 winners. The most recent meeting was almost five years ago in January 2017 and on that occasion it was West Auckland who were victorious 3-2.

In those eighteen meetings, Allotment appear to have the worse record as we have recorded just five wins in those encounters (two draws). It is also not pleasant reading the fact that Allotment's last win over our visitors came over a decade ago in August 2009 where Allotment won 0-2.

Team News

Despite a poor result in Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Penrith, one massive boost for Allotment came in the second half when striker and last season's top scorer Matty Hayton returned from an injury that has kept him out since the middle of pre-season. Hayton will be in line to once again be in the squad.

Another major boost for Allotment is that new signing Gee Baltazar is also in contention to return to the starting 11 after being absent on Saturday due to other commitments.

Central midfielder Gilberto Chapim is unavailable for the game and Mikel Thompson could also potentially miss out after picking up a knock.
