Match Preview: Blyth Town vs West Allotment - FA Vase

We continue our Buildbase FA Vase campaign this Saturday away at Blyth Town in the Second Qualifying Round.

We advanced to this stage of the competition in rather spectacular and dramatic fashion a couple of weeks ago when we hosted Steeton AFC. That game finished 5-5 after a whirlwind 90 minutes and West Allotment ultimately prevailed in the penalty shootout. We now head into the final qualifying round with a tricky task ahead.

The Opposition

Blyth Town are a Northern League Division Two side and play at Gateway Park. They currently sit in 14th position in their league with 16 points after 5 wins and 1 draw in 14 games.

Their most recent game came on Tuesday night when they hosted Washington. Blyth were leading 3-1 before the game was abandoned early in the second half due to floodlight issues.

Blyth Town have also been enjoying an impressive run of form in their home games winning their last three at home against Brandon United, Newcastle University and the high-flying Sunderland West End.

Blyth Town manager Mick Conner has spoken before the game and has discussed how he will have a full squad to choose from this Saturday.

"For the first time this season we'll probably have about 25 [players] to choose from. For us, with all the trials and tribulations we have been through this season in the first fourteen games, it's going to be hard to pick the team as everyone will want to be a part of that." Conner said.

Team News

There will be two massive boosts for Jay Bates and his West Allotment side this Saturday. Firstly, Gee Baltazar returns to the fold after missing the last two games through suspension.

This season's top scorer Callum Larmouth also returns after being unavailable for last week's home defeat against Ryhope C.W.

Matchday Information

Saturday 25th September - 3pm KO.

Venue: Gateway Park, South Newsham Pavilion, Sandringham Drive, Blyth, Northumberland - NE24 3PS.

If the game is level after 90 minutes then the tie will go straight to a penalty shootout.
