West Allotment Ladies went through to the semi-finals of the County Cup with an away win 5-2 over a young Morpeth Town Ladies team. Allotment flew out of the blocks with some great attacking play to go 3 up within ten minutes. Katie Archbold opened the scoring when she came in at the back post following an Anna Mullen cross to beat the keeper from a tight angle. Allotment's two forwards then combined as Gabby McConnel broke down the left and sent a cross in from Annie Ritson to score with a well placed header. Ritson a few minutes later added her third breaking down the right and sending a well placed shot across the keeper. Morpeth were a bit shell shocked and started to try to get back in the game but Coral Duff in truth only made one save in the first half and Allotment could have added more as Megan Hindmarsh hit the bar from a free kick. Sadly Hindmarsh had to come off injured after hurting her knee.
The second half was a bit more even as Morpeth tired to get back into the game. Allotment gifted the first goal to Morpeth as a goal kick failed to find an Allotment player and left the Morpeth player with a clear shot at goal. Morpeth were encouraged by this and lifted their game and got a second goal after Allotment failed to clear a corner. Minutes later Morpeth attacked again and flashed a shot across the face of the Allotment goal.
However Allotment regained control of the game and a lovely through ball by Faye Jardine sent Lizzie Dyke through to finish into the top corner and out Allotment 4-2 up .
With around five minutes to go Allotment put a great move together starting from a goal kick which involved six passes and McConnel scoring after beating two defenders to round off a good win for Allotment.
The clips show Annie Ritson getting her second and Lizzie Dyke getting Allotments fourth
