West Allotment enjoyed a good night away at local rivals North Shields in the Northumberland Senior Cup winning 2-1. The reward is a home game against Ashington with the game to be played in early December.
Allotment were without Jack Errington but welcomed back Giraud and Larmouth following the narrow defeat to Heaton on Saturday.
Allotment started the game brightly with chances for Thompson and Bates before on 14 minutes Callum Larmouth started and finished a move to open the scoring. Allotment continued to be the better team but failed to add to their lead. On 25 minutes Shields managed their first shot on target after a ball over the top sent Hird free but his shot was blocked by Gladstone. Almost on the stroke of half time Shields pulled level after a good ball up Allotments left found Turner who beat his man and fired in a shot that came back off the post , Shields Chisholm reacted first to slot home.
The second half was a bit more even although Allotment finished the stronger with Giraud going close forcing a good save from Hodgson. Allotment broke on the 85th minutes with a good move with Giraud playing the ball to his right for sub Cockburn who played a low across to the back post where Callum Larmouth rushed in unmarked to fire home and give Allotment a deserved lead. Minutes later Larmouth was again through on goal but blasted his shot over the bar.
Allotment move onto the FA Vase on Saturday away at Albion FC in Bradford.
